President's
Update:
(President: Sharad Parikh: Tele.# 314-567-0416)
Dear Devotees, The year 2001 has come and practically gone! Lots of
things have happened. I am very excited to review with you (as I did
at the general body meeting) some of the key developments at our Temple
this year. In early spring we hired a Hindi Speaking priest to join
our staff (Pandit Rameshwardas) and we are happy to have him. Later
in the spring we were able to have Mr. Ramesh back who had left us
last year to take care of some personal affairs. Therefore, we now
are fortunate to have four full time priests including Mr.Sampathkumar
and Mr.Srinivas. In September for the first time in the history of
the temple we had a fundraising dinner in conjunction with The Gandhi
Center. The funds raised will be used to provide additional parking.
On September 16, 2001 we held a Special Prayer session for the victims
of September 11 terrorists attacks. In October, on Dashera day, we
invited the Fire Chief of the West County fire department and presented
him with a check of $5000 to "Back Stoppers". As you all know earlier
this year there was some vandalism to parts of the Temple, and therefore
we installed fence at the perimeter of the Temple and put some video
cameras inside the Temple for additional security. We planned to have
elections on Dec.2, 2001, however because of some technical and logistical
issues we had to postpone it till January 13. Well, I want to thank
all the Trustees of the Temple who have contributed significantly
in making all the events successful and lively. I have enjoyed working
with them through the year. I want to thank all the devotees for their
support and participation in various events despite the inconvenience
of not finding parking some time. My thanks go to the Temple staff
for their excellent sense of devotion to the Temple expressed during
key events. Last but not the least, I want to thank my family (especially
my wife) who has supported me in my involvement in various Temple
activities. Happy Holidays to you all. Hari Hi Ohm.
