Sunday - April 3 , 2011 NEWSLETTER - SPECIAL EDITION April - 2011 APPEAL TO ATTEND COUNTY COUNCIL MEETINGS Dear members, Temple submitted plans to St. Louis Planning Commission to build community center in the new land south of the temple. It is a three story building consisting of kitchen and dining room, 12 class rooms, library, auditorium etc. The neighbors living in the subdivision south of the property raised some concerns about disturbing their privacy with car lights flashing into their houses, parking, noise etc. During the hearings with Planning Commission we did agree to provide them privacy by constructing a wall with two tiers with plantings and bushes. The council unanimously approved our request with some conditions. Then it was referred to St. Louis County Commission for final approval. St. Louis County Council referred the matter back to Planning Commission for reconsideration. After due process the Planning Commission by a vote of 5 to 0 reiterated their recommendation to approve the proposal. For reasons best known to them, the County Council formed a special Public Improvements Committee (PIC) to address the issue. This Committee solicits citizen input and makes recommendations to the County Council. We expect our neighbors to raise some concerns during the hearings. At our request Councilman Wasinger met with us at the temple on Wednesday, March 30, at 10.30AM. Her input to Public Improvements Committee is very important. The PIC scheduled a meeting on Tuesday, April5, 2011 at 5 PM in Council Chamber (2^nd floor) at 41 S. Central Avenue, Clayton, MO 63105. We request the members to attend the PIC meeting on April 5^th at 5PM. This is an important meeting for us. We have a concern that they may reduce the number of parking spaces in the new land as a precondition prior to approval.
