Attukal Pongala is a 10-day festival celebrated exclusively by the women devotees who wish to get the blessing of Goddess Bhadrakali (Kannaki), who is the presiding deity at the temple in Attukal, Trivandrum Kerala. On the 10th day which falls on the star Magha during the month of Kumbha, the women devotees offer naivedyam payasam (pudding made of rice, jaggery and ghee) to Goddess Bhadrakali. St. Louis devotees are blessed with an opportunity to participate in this festival under the guidance of Sri Narayan Namboothiri, who has served in the Attukal Bhagavathi temple as the chief priest in the past and has guided thousands of devotees to successfully offer naivedyam payasam to Goddess and get her blessings.
